Thank you so much! unfortunately most PT as I'm sure you know is pure crap ,cookie cutter crap .with all the great stuff (some of it crap too admittedly )on YouTube I have not even gone to PT for what my neurosurgeon wrote as rx:"back," back that's all!!! Real custom customized, right? I've tried everything on my own former dancer Yoga practitioner hiker runner you name it. Nothing only thing I do is swimming. I tried your head roll down to the floor. Then hips down anchoring roll up. Nice.Mcgill says forward is a no-no but he doesn't work for me so far because I don't have specific functional pain. My pain comes at a time hours removed from doing anything -in other words lying down for a couple of hours.and all nite. I still don't have a handle on what exactly makes it worse so though I'm pretty sure it's any kind of compressive activity. I tried the Spin bike which I used to do ,for four minutes seated and recumbent 10 no resistance on either and I was up all night with pins and needles hard to tell, same with too much walking or too fast walking approaching a slight jog. Also kept me up all night .right now. I just have classic sciatica pain frim my waist down the leg that I had the TKR to my feet and it's hell hell on earth .exercise was my life my joy I can't tell you how terrifying this is to me. I'm hoping for grandchildren soon And what the hell am I gonna be? Do you work with people remotely??
Working remotely can be tricky but I greatly empathize with the difficulty in finding something that helps you recover.
I'll gladly meet with you virtually and offer you a free lesson to see if I can help. It's something I offer all of my students. You can find my booking link at johndalto.setmore.com.
Rolling forward in the chair can give a nice passive stretch to the back and is a great way to practice head lead/body follow!
Everything depends on the individual when it comes to sciatica pain. It's typically best to work with a teacher that knows what they're doing. If you do this incorrectly it will likely aggravate things when you roll up (incorrectly).
That said, I absolutely guide my students with sciatica through this movement and it alleviates pressure.
Is this ok for sciatica?
