Last week, I suggested that you imagine that you are watching a movie during your lie down. I see a big tendency in my students to pitch the head down as if they are looking at their bellies (*cough* or the phone that’s ker-plopped in their lap *cough* *cough*). Such a tendency will have the adverse effect of creating congestion in the voice.
If you’re confused about what I mean by this whole head angle business, check out this post!
This week, I completed most of the drawings I want to do to give you a sense of what the torso is. These views leave out a lot; particularly when it comes to giving you a sense of the inner space of the back. But what they can give you is a sense of the 3 main functions of the torso: breathing, spinal support, and all the other stuff.
This division is something that I’m doing to help you better understand the meaning of the phrase, “Allow the back to lengthen and widen.” or “Do not the narrow the back.”. I will include all of these drawings in this post so you don’t have to jump around from post to post to post to tie them all together. I hope these are helpful in building your imagination!

All the Rest
Above, you’ll see my newest of the new additions. If you are to take anything specific from this new drawing, maybe it should be the lack of straight lines in the body; particularly in the back. As long as nothing feels straight, stiff, or held static we tend to function better!
If you like these drawings, feel free to hit the like button on the article or share within the substack-verse. Any and all forms of support are most appreciated!
